Activism in Energy Sector Extends to Pay

NFPCCmp;A's own Brent Longnecker & Todd Henke were interviewed by Kristin Gibben, a columnist for Agenda Week, for her article entitled, "Activism in Energy Sector Extends to Pay."   With the energy sector booming, we are seeing more companies granting larger long-term incentives to help retain talent in a hyper-competitive market.  We are seeing more of these grants are in the form of restricted stock or performance based awards.  These long-term incentive vehicles are negatively viewed by shareholder advising institutions, such as Institituional Shareholder Services ("ISS"), which are recommending a vote against executive pay for some of the companies with these type of awards, and some shareholders are listening.
